recently i saw the new
u2 3d -imax movie.
now, i'm not really a u2 fan
in any capacity - but i wouldn't
say i dislike them...
and i'm generally unenthused
when it comes to concert films.
but, about a year ago i read
an intriguing article promising
that this movie involved
groundbreaking technology
and would blow my mind.
so, i had to check it out.
i am pleased to report
that i was not disappointed.
the experience was fairly
mind-boggling. no
behind-the-scenes bullshit,
no cinematic cutaways -
just a clean translation
of the concert experience
into a powerful, almost
transcendental,
new format.
not only did i leave the theatre
feeling as if i'd just physically
attended a massive concert...
it felt like i'd been there
in the form of a 4-inch tall
invisible bubble, smoothly
floating inches away from
the performers, tangibly
feeling the energy of
being on stage
with them.
my only complaint is that
afterwards my eyes
were sore for hours!!!

I like the idea of putting your review up here. And you've made me want to see the movie.
