David took his hand, but only to
anchor him in place, pleading:
Sweetheart, please, let's give it a little
more time. Don't do anything rash. Please?
David . . . .
Please? Give it five more
minutes. Just five more minutes, and
if it's not better, then we'll go
Xander hesitated, undecided, then finally agreed:
Five minutes.
And he sat again, this time leaning back along with David, close at his side and holding tight to his hand. He was not letting go, no matter what his father had to say about it, and damn the consequences.
As it happened, his father had nothing whatsoever
to say about it. He simply sat there, glaring at
them both, without uttering a single word.

Not what I call a pleasant family moment. Big Al has some serious issues to cope with namely accepting the fact that Xander is gay and has a lover. This won't be easy for him at all. One good thing is that Xander is standing up for himself. Just don't rub it in or provoke in the process.
