He risked a glance at Xander as he
released David's hand and stepped back.
Xander came to a decision at that moment. He didn't know if he was being naive or not, but he was going to accept his father's words at face value, let go of the past, and hope to start anew with his parents. Maybe it might even work, now that they no longer had to share a roof. Regardless, he couldn't do otherwise -- not with that look on Big Al's face.
Hoping that he wasn't doing the stupidest thing
ever, he approached his father and hugged him.
Thanks, Dad. I love you.
Hoarsely, the man replied:
Love you, too, son.
Xander let go, moved toward his
mother, and bent to hug her, as well.
And thanks, Mom. I love you,
too. And I'll call you guys soon.
She nodded against his shoulder, her voice
also huskier than normal as she said:
Please do, sweetie. We don't know where
to reach you yet, so we can't call you.
I know. I will, I promise.
Releasing her, he turned to
David and reached for his hand.
Both his parents walked them to the door, not seeming to care anymore if the
neighbors saw them waving their goodnight to the two boys holding hands.

It was so well written, i'm sad to see it go. You captured what some teens go through their whole life, something thats hard to even put in words, and you made it so powerful and touching all on one website. You truly are amazing Tan. Bravo.

Tan, I was so desperate to read the ending of Falling Down, that at school I borrowed someones Blackberry to read it! This is probably one of the most detailed and unexpected stories that people are surprised I'm reading it! Overall, the effects scenes, and plot of the story fit well together. And thanks to you, I had roller coaster emotions to this.
