AGGRAVATE VS. IRRITATE
GRAMMARDONERIGHT.COM
THE WAITER AT THAT
RESTAURANT REALLY AGGRAVATED ME!
And my back was so irritated by those hard chairs.
Then that mosquito bit me and aggravated my skin.
Well, I'm irritated that you are confusing these two words.
Irritate means to exasperate, provoke or inflame. And aggravate means to make worse or more troublesome.
therefore, you were irritated by the waiter, the chairs aggravated your
bad back...
...AND THE MOSQUITO BITE IRRITATES YOUR SKIN MAKING IT ITCH. Then SCRATCHING THE BITE AGGRAVATES
THE ITCH.
and, you are
provoking me!
