What's wrong with sleep
dougie? It's like you're
avoiding it.
He paled, visibly paled, and
looked away. The last time
I'd seen Dougie pale was
when he was shot.
Just put those on the
work tables, Pan. You'll
know them, they're the
only metal items in the
room.
Are you planning on telling
me anything? Ever?
You don't have to stay
for this, Pan. In fact, I'd
prefer if you didn't.
Was Dougie always
this infuriating?
I waited to enter the room
until the urge to to grab
the ends of his scarf and
pull as hard as I could had
passed.
Dougie and Ginnie were deep in a discussion
about antiques, an interest Dougie had
never held before, but I supposed stood
to reason he would now. Alex was
brooding moodily near the balcony,
looking as lost as I had felt my first day.
I see Dougie set up a
work area for you.
And made it all metal. He
clearly recalls some of
my more explosive
experiments in high school.
Hard to forget. My cat was
never the same after you
nearly blew her tail off.
Not one of my more shining
moments, I'll grant you.
You must have much better
equipment, now that you're
working for Ginnie's dad.
And a safer workplace.
Not really. Her dad wants me working
the business side of things. I mostly
don't have time for my ideas anymore.
That...was a shock.
an unpleasant shock.
Alex didn't have a business bone in his body. When
I'd last seen him, he still couldn't balance his own checkbook. But he did have ideas, crazy, brilliant ideas that I had always thought would change the world someday. Taking that away from him was tantamount to ripping off a limb, and would be nearly as crippling. An awkward silence followed.
Well, if you're not above car
repair these days, I hit
something on the way in,
and it didn't sound good.
Happy to. Once we get
settled in I'll--
Alex!
If you want to come
sit down next to Ginnie,
we need to talk.
And so it begins.

I sometimes have the desire to pull on both ends of my friends scarf... but that's mostly because the ends of it look like bell-pulls.

Yeah! Yank his scarf! ... he looks extremely unpleasant in panel 1. Makes me want to paint him. And yes, bedroom is AMAZING, the work onthe bed makes my hand hurt!!

Gorgeous bedroom -- you're such a genius with the decor! Sounds like Alex would've been better off if he'd stuck with Pan. ;)
