like my voice was the
best thing he'd heard all
day.

I took stock. my head
was pounding and my
body felt as limp and
wrung out as a wet
dishrag, but everything
seemed to be attached
and accounted for,
even my memories.

Gods, I thought
I'd killed you.
Do you suppose it
would be very bad
to mix some aspirin
with a good, stiff
shot of whiskey?
Dougie started laughing
again. I must have
looked pretty bad when
I dropped for him to be
this relieved.

Dougie helped me sit
up, but refused to
leave me until he was
sure I could support
myself.
He rummaged in the
cabinet a moment,
bringing out the
whiskey and the
aspirin I'd asked for,
and handed them to
me without a word.
Almost, almost I
asked him why he
kept it there, but I
bit back the words.
I was starting to
suspect why, and it
wasn't a rabbit hole
my pounding head
could handle just
yet.
Instead, I watched as
he poured the whiskey
with a professional
flourish.
actually, I spent most of
college working at
bars. Met a lot of
pretty girls that way.

Ohm'gosh, I agree, that bottle is AMAZING! As is the whole beautiful scene with the loverly furniture! And HEY this did not build elaborate on suspense in last panel! I CAN'T WAIT
