There was a barely restrained
violence about him; it crackled
in the air like electricity
before a thunderstorm.
I wasn't scared for me--I
knew dougie would never

had serious reservations
about the fate of the
liquor cabinet.
Okaaaay, the temper was
new. and a little frightening.
Did you know before damon
disappeared, he complained to
me about nightmares he'd had?
terrible things full of fire and
blood and half seen shadows
that flew through caverns of
lava and fire. He could never
explain to me exactly why they
scared him so badly, except
to say the shadows were
stalking him.
at the time I thought...well,
I thought things were getting
to him. We were...well, we were
doing things we probably
shouldn't have, and....
