I originally read this quote in Shea and Wilson's Illuminatus, said by Hagbard Celine, but later found out it was a Crowley quote form the Book of Lies (Which I've never read.) That sentence had a profound impact on my worldview about 15 years ago, and continues to be a reminder that everyone is a freak even if they look normal on the outside...
