she sat there,
lonely.
Staring through drapes
that were heavy with the dust of time.
a tear followed the contours of her face.
weaving through the lines embedded therein.
a pearl on crushed velvet.
her memory now cloudy.
but one thing she could remember through all that haze.
oh how she had loved him.
she envisioned him standing there.
tall and strong.
as he was when they first met.
her body now crumpled and worn.
but she saw her younger self next to him.
her Golden hair catching the sunlight.
"hair of an angel" he had said.
she felt a soft breeze brush her cheek.
was it a kiss?
it was daylight.
then why did it seem so dark?
she closed her eyes.
He held her in arms that had waited so long.
they were together again.
