such a shame that dr. lannister didn't get the chance th see this day come, but he knew what to expect. he was one of the last of his generation.
I can't imagine what it's like to know that you're going to live and die on a generational vessel, leaving solid ground forever. he would probably say that he pities me just as much for having never experienced Old earth.
from his many stories and descriptions of that dead world, though, I don't think I'm missing out on much. between devastating pollution and a failed terraforming attempt, there wasn't much left to experience.
and now, after most of a century of travel, the ovo, the only home I've known, has brought us to this moon, our new earth, within a week of projected travel time. the prophets would tell us that we are blessed.
finally
we will, for the first time for almost all of us, breathe air unprocessed by machines, and live under a light in the sky that is not doused by the flick of a switch. we will lived again as humans once did.
