hello my name is jonas. i live in a very controlled town. when you're twelve "the old" pick what job you get for the rest of your life. the choices are very thought through. tomorrow is the ceremony to see what job i get.
Jonas was chosen to be the "receiver of memory" that is a very important job in the community. jonas's training will start tomorrow

it's not fair. we shouldn't have to carry arround all these memories for the people. we should make a plan.
the next day they carried on their plan...their plan was to have jonas run away. that would mean all the memories jonas had would be released to the people in the community.
jonas ran away early in the morning. he had only a few buns and a water bottle to drink
jonas was running out of food and water. he knew that he wouldn't survive for much longer.
jonas saw a light. he started to head towards it. and the last thing he saw was a bright white light.
