Hey Peter, "How was your day?" Sharon asked. Hey Sharon, "It was boring," Peter responded. I have a project to complete. "what is the project about?" Asked Sharon. its about going green. "Why do i have to do this project, anyways?" asked peter. Going Green is not a bad thing. "its a way to show you care about your planet," replied Sharon. I can help you, peter, if you want. "That will be great," peter exclaimed. "we can meet up after school at my house," responded Sharon. Going Green at Greenville HIgh Hey peter, for the first part of Going Green, we will visit our city park.there are always ways to see why going green is important. Okay. That sounds great. it sure is a nice day at the park. pee-YU! "what is that smell?" peter asked. it is the trashcan. "this brings me to my first point," stated Sharon. Going Green does not only happens at school or at home. you can go green everywhere you go. how so? asked peter. do you see that trash over there? can you tell me what is wrong? Yes, it stinks! besides that. what else do you notice? There is trash all over the ground. Correct!!! I didn't realize how important it was not to litter. Litter plays a very effective role in harming the planet we call home. Litter cannot only make our world unappealing, but it can also pollute the waterways, soil, and ground water with its toxins. litter is not the only issue our planet face. think about other places you have gone that can also play a role in harming our planet. Places! like where? well, when you brush your teeth in the morning or night, it is always important to cut the water off. this helps us save at least 8 gallon of water each time. it also cuts down on water waste. "i think the correct term is water conservation," said peter. "thats correct," replied sharon. Recycle Lets look at our classroom. we have a blue recycling bin. it allows us to think of the three r's when it comes to going green. "the three r's.... Do you mean recycle, reduce, and reuse?" asked peter. exactly, peter. "the three r"s is a process to how we help to go green," stated Sharon. FIrst we recycle the paper. the paper goes to a paper mill to be cleaned so we can reuse it. as a result, we have reduced the number of trees we had to cut down. look over at the school bus. "what do you see that can harm us?" asked Sharon. "the smoke coming from the bus," responded peter. yes! smoke coming from cars and factories are polluting the air. "this can make it hard for us to breathe as well as cause health problems" stated Sharon. at your house, your parents always tell you to turn off the light. turning off the lights cuts the amount of electricity being used. in return, we save energy that benefits our planet. Wow! thats a lot of reasons to go green. it sure is and thats not all. there are still other reasons, but i think we discussed enough for today "i have a lot of great ideas," stated peter. "wonderful!" replied Sharon.
