there was a lower water concentration
in the roots than in round so the root hairs
sucked me out of the ground. this is also known
as osmosis.

we're on our way up! we are able to defy gravity thanks to four things: -transpiration; water evaporates from the top and so other water moves up to replace it -Adhesion; water can stick to the sides of the xylem -cohesion; water molecules can stick together -root pressure; water moves up so then there is less pressure in roots, so water in the soil must move into roots to replace it
